Beyond the Badge is an interactive and engaging summer career cluster designed to introduce middle and high school students to the principles and professions of the criminal justice system. Through hands-on simulations, critical thinking activities, and real-world scenarios, students will explore what it truly means to serve and protect, both in and beyond a uniform.

“It’s time to take law into our hands.” Ever wondered what it’s like to be a forensic expert? In this interactive program, middle school students dive into the world of criminal justice through hands-on experiences like crime scene investigations, fingerprint analysis, and mock trials—building critical thinking, decision-making, and social-emotional skills along the way.

Where Science Meets Service


Over the course of 8 weeks, participants will investigate crime scenes, conduct mock traffic stops, role-play courtroom trials, and dive into the ethics, laws, and leadership skills that define the field. Students will also meet professionals from across the justice system, officers, forensic technicians, attorneys, and more, who will share insights into their daily work and the challenges they face.
